Why this is a Good Book For Teenage Girls

Wuthering Heights is a good book for teenage girls because it's a different perspective of romance. Catherine and Heathcliff are kept apart by their own lack of confidence in each other. There's passion, devotion and longing in a troubled situation with dark circumstances and without the sex. This is an excellent book for the teen who loves romance, dark and haunting settings, and turbulent relationship issues.

About The Author

Emily Brontë was an English novelist who also wrote poetry. Her one and only novel Wuthering Heights is a literary classic. She was the third child of the four surviving Brontë children. During Emily's lifetime women writing was frowned upon, so she published her work under the name Ellis Bell. Education was a main focus in Emily and her siblings' lives. They not only were tutored but temporarily went to boarding school, were home-schooled and eventually aspired to open their own small school. Due to weak health, Emily eventually gave up her dream of teaching and settled back at home taking care of the home and her father. Polluted water weakened her health and tuberculosis eventually swept her away. She died young, at the age of thirty, but the writing she left behind lives on.
